Canoe Camping Trips
Enjoy a multi-day canoe expedition exploring one of our country’s great rivers. Spend the days leisurely paddling downstream in tranquillity, and the evenings on an idyllic campsite by the water’s edge.
Here are a couple of our favourites. Choose from simple one night adventures to whole week long expeditions across the country.
The Dart estuary
In the southwest the river Dart estuary makes a great overnight trip. Start your journey at Totnes and head down to a basic campsite in a beautiful location on the riverbank to enjoy the night around a campfire before heading on towards Dartmouth the next day. See the dates for our next planned expedition on the Dart here.
The river Wye
The river Wye is the classic canoe camping river, with plenty of options ranging from one night expeditions to 3-4 day expeditions.
The river Thames
For those who desire a more stately progress the river Thames offers a peaceful alternative with idyllic camping on lock islands.
The Caledonian Canal
This is a magnificent trip across the whole of the Great Glen between Fort William and Inverness, usually over 5 days, wild camping on the banks of the lochs. The route includes three lochs – Loch Lochy, Loch Oich and the immense Loch Ness – connected by both canals and rivers. Experience tranquil back waters, open water crossings, canoe sailing and white water canoeing all under the experienced direction of your instructor.
We supply the boats, equipment, waterproof drums to keep your belongings safe, and qualified canoe instructors. If you wish to improve your paddling along the way we provide coaching (a journey can also be a great way to complete a British Canoeing award if you desire) and above all enjoy canoeing through some of the best scenery in the UK.
